The global retail phenomenon of Black Friday is having a positive impact on the UK’s car retailers. A Dealerweb analysis of the promotional period shows an 11% leap in used sales against last year.
New sales only declined by 0.4% in an environment that has seen double-digit declines throughout 2018. Leads over the Black Friday period increased by 8.5% for used vehicles and dropped by 15.6% for new cars.
Commenting on the data, Martin Hill, managing director said:
Black Friday continues to grow as a global retail event, and it's clear that dealers across the UK have embraced the promotional and sales opportunities it creates.
Promotions ranged from £300 discounts on all used vehicles to big OEM discounts on new vehicles. Some of the more eye-catching deals included over £17,500* off an Alfa Romeo 4C. In an ever-changing retail environment, it is essential to take advantage of every opportunity to engage with the buyer.
The data also showed a 12% increase in finance sales and a 4% rise in GAP sales.
